From Best Friends to Forever
2021
How It Began
Chad and Jenn's story began in 2021.
They first met through cricket before later becoming colleagues. From the very
beginning, they clicked effortlessly and quickly became best friends.
As time went on, friendship slowly turned into something more. Somewhere between
shared conversations, countless laughs and spending more time together than either
of them probably expected, they realised they might just be in love.
The rest, as they say, is still being written—and somehow, they love each
other a little more every day.
First Date
The First Date
Their first date was at Spur, Clearwater, after Chad asked
Jenn out for dinner and a movie.
The evening was relaxed, funny and romantic—the kind of date where everything
just felt easy. There was great conversation, plenty of laughter, and the beginning
of something very special.
The only small surprise? Jenn ended up paying for dinner, while Chad paid for the
movie. Whether that was Chad's master plan or just how things worked out... we'll
let you decide.
The Proposal
Plan B, One Knee, and a Very Long Second

Like most great plans... this one didn't quite go according.
Chad and Jenn had escaped to the beautiful Drakensberg for a week away together.
On the second day, they set off on a hike to a stunning waterfall—the very
place where Chad had carefully planned to ask one of the biggest questions of his
life.
There was just one small problem.
When they arrived, Jenn became completely fascinated by a group of people performing
a ritual in the water. While Chad was trying to gather every ounce of courage he had,
Jenn was completely absorbed in trying to work out what on earth was happening.
Several times Chad nervously started with,
"Jenn... we've been together for..."
...only to be interrupted by,
"Wait... what are they doing over there?"
After a few unsuccessful attempts, and with his nerves rapidly disappearing, Chad
decided it might be time for Plan B. He casually suggested they continue with another
hike.
A Small Piece of Important Context...
The evening before, over dinner, Chad had jokingly told Jenn that she should learn to
say "no" to people a little more often.
Jenn quickly pointed out that the only person she'd be spending the entire week with
was him, before smiling and saying,
"Well then... the next thing you ask me, I'm going to say no."
Neither of them realised just how relevant that joke was about to become.
Back to the Hike...
About halfway along their new route, Jenn accidentally dropped her vape into the sand.
As she bent down to pick it up, Chad saw his chance.
When she turned back around... there he was.
Down on one knee. Ring in hand. Heart racing.
He asked Jenn to marry him.
Jenn smiled and said,
"Well... you know what I have to say."
Completely caught off guard, Chad replied,
"What?"
With the straightest face she could manage, Jenn answered,
"No."
For a brief, and very long, second, Chad's heart stopped.
Then Jenn burst into laughter.
"Just joking... of course!"
A very relieved Chad finally got the answer he'd been hoping for.
They kissed, laughed, and the rest, as they say, is history.

A Few Favourite Details
From Rooibos to Coffee
When Chad and Jenn first met, Chad was firmly on Team Rooibos.
Fast forward a few years, and he owns his own coffee machine and has become quite
the coffee enthusiast—much to Jenn's approval.
Some might call it personal growth. Others might say spending enough time with Jenn
eventually converted him. His bank account has never recovered.
The Planner & The Spontaneous One
Jenn is the spontaneous one.
Chad is the planner.
Jenn will happily suggest a road trip with ten minutes' notice, while Chad already
has a mental spreadsheet, a backup plan, and probably checked the weather three
days ago.
Somehow, it works perfectly.
Four Years Apart, Right on Time
Chad may be four years older than Jenn, but timing has never really been about age.
They met exactly when they were supposed to, and that's what makes their story
special.
Although Chad occasionally likes to remind Jenn that his music recommendations come
with four extra years of experience.

every family is different—not everyone has childcare available, and not everyone
feels comfortable leaving their babies or children at home. Please know that your
children are more than welcome to celebrate with us.
Kids are kids! They laugh, play, get excited, and sometimes make a little
noise—and that's completely okay with us. We want everyone, big and small, to
feel welcome and enjoy the day.
If you would prefer to make it a date night and leave the kids at home, that's
absolutely your choice too. Whatever works best for your family, we'll be happy to
celebrate with you.
We'll share more information regarding childcare or babysitting options at the venue,
if available, in the formal invitations.

We'll completely understand, although we'll certainly miss celebrating with you.
